And my kinky hair is NO exception!"

WHY I CHOSE TO RETURN TO NATURAL HAIR...
I began studying, learning and practicing a life of being healthy and natural. I began learning how there are chemicals and ingredients in a simple bottle of shampoo or body lotion that the skin absorbs and they are toxic to the system and contribute to many things such as cancers, headaches, etc.

I began to learn how the chemicals in relaxers are harmful and I realized that I was beginning to hear of too many Black women with fibroid tumors and other health problems that no one seems to know that root cause of.

No, I don't have any proof that relaxers are related to any of these illnesses and conditions, but I would not be surprised.  I mean, years of dumping those toxic chemicals into our systems HAS to be doing something to us over the years...ya know?  Some things don't show up right away, but develops over time and before you know it, you're in some operating room under a knife and neither you nor the doctors know WHY!  Let's wake up my sisters.

I also began to question why everyone else on this planet can go out and wear their hair natural with out a second look or thought except those of us with kinky hair. Why for so many years have Black women (myself included) made straight hair a "requirement" for themselves ; why did I relax my baby's hair at the tender and much too young age of 5 years old when it was so thick, beautiful? Why did so many women came and sat in my styling chair like clockwork every 4-6 weeks to get that touch-up all the while complaining about how thin their hair is.  Why did a young lady whose hair literally got burned out leaving bald spots in her head continue to get relaxers after that tragedy?

It's all madness and I wanted OUT of that madness... out of that frame of mind.  Face it, we've been brainwashed.  We've been conditioned to believe that our natural, God-given hair is ugly, shameful and undesirable.  Worst of all, it's women of color that seem to give natural-haired Black women the most grief.

I want to be able to accept the hair I was born with and love it for what it is and not feel the need to straighten it in order to like it. I'm sure there are pros and cons to both relaxed or natural hair but in my opinion, the relaxed has more cons than natural.

Well, I have now cut off all the relaxed hair and I am totally free from my dependancy on relaxers to straighten my hair.  I can go out in the rain and not worry about my hair getting messed up or "reverting".  It's all the way there and ain't no shame in my game!

The first question many people want to ask you when you start out with a head full of long hair is "Why did you cut off all your long, beautiful hair?".  It may have been long, but it was not healthy.  As a hair stylist, I learned the tricks of the trade and how to cover up and mask the damage that relaxers had done to my hair.  I just got to a point where I was tired of living the "Lye".  If my hair can't be my own, I don't want it.  This hair of mine will grow back and will be healthy and natural!

If you are a relaxed sister and you are suffering from damaged hair; hair that is lifeless, weak and thinning, consider...STRONGLY consider the effects that chemicals could be having on your hair (and in your body) and consider taking the journey back to your  natural "roots"!
